Collaboration boosts sales and earnings
The HOCHTIEF offering features products and services
spanning the entire life cycle of infrastructure projects,
real estate and facilities. Our work is carried out to the
highest standards of quality. HOCHTIEF offers its clients innovative solutions
tailored to their project at fair
prices.
Our success is based on networking and close collaboration among our companies,
both nationally and internationally. In line with our motto “One
roof—all solutions,” we transfer knowledge and create networks
within the Group. This enables us to meet our high
standards and offer clients efficient, sustainable solutions. For our shareholders,
employees and the company, we leverage additional earnings potential.
Examples of cooperation within the Group
In the reporting period, the divisions handled cooperation projects worth a total
of EUR 2.3 billion.
Collaboration within the Group extends across all divisions and succeeded in
winning over clients both in
Germany and in the international arena in 2010.*
For example, HOCHTIEF Construction and the companies in the HOCHTIEF Services
division are working
under contract to HOCHTIEF Concessions on concessions projects in the roads
and social infrastructure segments, bringing their special expertise to bear. In the
UK, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions (UK) and HOCHTIEF Facility Management UK
were awarded the contract to design,
finance, build and operate the Joint Service Centre in
Wigan. This civic building complex is HOCHTIEF’s first
PPP project in the UK outside the schools segment. In
addition, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America is to
design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Presidio
Parkway in San Francisco together with a partner. The
building consortium for the new southern access road
to the Golden Gate Bridge is led by HOCHTIEF subsidiary Flatiron.
In the Americas division, our subsidiaries Turner, Flatiron and E.E. Cruz continued
to step up their collaboration. They cooperate on selected bids, to which they
bring their building construction and civil engineering
expertise. For example, Flatiron and Turner will work
together with joint venture partners to design and build
the Oakland Airport Connector, a stretch of railway that
will carry passenger traffic to the airport.
In the reporting period, there were once again numerous projects
combining the efforts of the HOCHTIEF
Europe, Services and Real Estate divisions. Since November 2010,
HOCHTIEF Facility Management has
been in charge of technical facility management at the
Prisma office building in Frankfurt, a role it will perform
for five years. The property was developed by HOCHTIEF
Projektentwicklung, built by HOCHTIEF Construction
and is now managed by HOCHTIEF Property Management.
HOCHTIEF is also responsible for technical and
infrastructural facility management as well as energy
management at the Tower 185 complex in Frankfurt,
where the core and shell were constructed by HOCHTIEF
Construction.
Knowledge transfer between the Group units is also proving useful
in the promising market for offshore wind farms.
HOCHTIEF Facility Management and HOCHTIEF Construction are
working closely together to develop a
special-purpose vessel with which we intend to tap the
potential in the wind farm maintenance segment.
Because of the increasing demand for end-to-end
solutions, close cooperation between the HOCHTIEF
companies plays an ever more important role. With
this in mind and in order to further boost our capabilities, we
brought the former HOCHTIEF Europe, Real
Estate and Services divisions together under one roof,
thereby forming the new HOCHTIEF Europe division
on January 1, 2011.
